14th District MWSA
Minutes of the Stated Meeting of
August 28th, 2024
On August 28, 2024, at 7:30 pm, the 14th District MWSA was opened by President Roger Landry at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Dallas-Love Field, located at 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas 75235.
Officers present were Roger Landry (President), Robert Weston (VP), David Ritter (Secretary) and George Rutherford (Ambassador).
Sign in sheets are attached and reflect the attendance of 41 Masons and several guests.
After opening, prayer, and pledges, President Landry thanked the Dallas High Noon Club for hosting. A presentation on the over 100-year history of the Dallas High Noon Club was made, and it was noted that it was the original template for the MWSA organization.
Motions were made, seconded, and passed to:
1. Set the meeting location of the October 23rd, 2024 meeting to the Texas Masonic Retirement Community in Arlington, Texas for the joint meeting with the 64th District MWSA; and
2. Set the meeting date for the November meeting to November 20th, 2024.
Brother Carleton Newberry, the guest speaker for the night, was introduced. Brother Newberry presented a humorous and informative program entitled “A Partially True History of Masonry in America.”
Minutes for the July 2024 meeting were approved by vote. Correspondence from Advisor Brian Cook for Richardson DeMolay thanking the MWSA for the donation was received and acknowledged.
The Treasurer’s report was received via transmittal from the Treasurer, who could not attend, and the balance was $3985.76, with $100 donation to Richardson DeMolay reflected as a debit.
Upcoming meetings at Hillcrest Lodge (September 25th) for “Brimmed Hat Night” and The Masonic Retirement Community (October 23rd) for Grand Lodge Candidate Forum were announced.
Upcoming Events were announced from the floor including:
1. Briscoe Workshop at Dallas #760 – September 30th
2. Hellas Shrine Labor Day Fish Fry and Parade – Labor Day
3. Royce City #663 Esoteric Speaker Event – September 14th
4. James A. Smith #395 – Forum and Exam – September 7th
The meeting was closed with prayer, peace and harmony prevailing.
