September Stated Meeting – Held at James A. Smith Lodge #395, September 30th, 2020
Meeting opened at 7:30pm with Opening Remarks by President Hill.
After prayer and pledges to our nation’s and state’s flags, Vice President Bostain introduced Officers, Past Presidents, and other Masonic Dignitaries. All officers were present. 26 were physically present with an additional 4 attending virtually via ZOOM, for
a total of 30 in attendance.
President Hill then introduced the current Master of our host Lodge, Roger Landry, who spoke briefly about James A. Smith Lodge and their focus on Texas Masonic Ritual and a good standing in the community.
Brothers Justin Duty and Sam Gibbins, both members of the Texas Masonic Charities Foundation, spoke about the role of the TMCF and the many benefits they bring to lodges. Brother Duty went into detail about how lodges can apply for matching funds and how Texas Masons can use Smile.Amazon.com to also contribute.
Brother Roger Landry then gave a presentation on how to engage members during/post
COVID.
Brother President then gave an event review of scheduled meetings planned in the upcoming year; all meetings have been posted to the MWSA website.
Old Business – A motion was made by Treasurer Bindel to reimburse Secretary Alston for AV equipment he purchased. Chaplain Morton then reminded everyone of the matching funds by the MWSA for any donation to the Lena Ruth & Leonard P. Harvey Scholarship.
New Business – None.
Secretary Alston announced that minutes from prior meetings had been posted online and made a motion that they be approved as posted. Second was made by Darrell Hefley, motion carried.
Announcements from The Floor were made, including Brother Landry announcing a Festive Board honoring Bob Mauch.
Chaplain Morton closed the meeting with heartfelt prayer.
